Today Mihai Marcu, Joeri Geuzinge, Efe Ayna,  Max Eradus, and Lars Paulussen succesfully defended their BSc thesis! They worked very hard and well towards this during April-June 2026 within the CSE3000 research project at the TU Delft, with general topic "Algorithms for Resource Exchange in Networks".  I co-supervised them with prof. George Iosifidis. You can find more information related to the exact topic and links for each individual thesis in the "Teaching and Supervision" tab.

Today I completed my participation in the Supervise module of the University Teaching Qualifications (UTQ), at the TU Delft! Now working towards the completion of my Proof of Competence (PoC)! 

This is a 30-hours course, with the interactive lectures done in Apr-May 2026. This course is related to supervision of thesis or internships, at BSc, MSc or PhD level.

• In this course I learned to: 

  • Create a timeline for effective supervision (including strategies for considering expectations, motivation, supervision roles, intercultural considerations and feedback moments) , 

  • Apply conversational skills (active listening, asking open questions, LSD) during a supervision meeting  

  • Reflect on my current performance as supervisor in real life supervision situations 

  • Demonstrate motivational strategies to create a safe learning environment  

  • Provide constructive feedback in an educational setting  

  • Reflect on my roles and responsibilities as a supervisor 

  • Conduct a 360 evaluation and collect information (data) purposefully to improve my supervision 

  • Analyse evaluation results

  • Create a development plan based on my conclusions including tangible steps towards improvements.

Delivered my first keynote Presentation at the "Sustainable AI in/for Green Networking (SAYGreeN)” Workshop, which was colocated with the IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom 2026), in Pisa (Italy). 

My presentation was entitled "From Applied Mathematics to Automated Heuristic Design: Engineering Sustainable and Explainable 6G Networks". I really enjoyed engaging with the wornderful audience of this very curated workshop!

Today i gave a talk on the 4TU-NIRICT Systems and AI Colloquium of the Netherlands Institute for Research on ICT. life during and after the PhD, sharing some "DO"s and "DON'T"s that I find useful. It was exciting to attend the rest of the presentations and interact with enthousiastics PhD students, even online!

I presented the RIXISAC project to the GIROS Lab and networked with the researchers of the lab, who showed me their ISAC testbed. We also had an in person meeting with UPM collaborators  regarding the newly started collaboration on ISAC measurements, performed in the GIROS Lab premises at UPM. Involved researchers:  Jorge Martín Pérez, Pablo Fernández López, David Fernández, Maria Calderon, and myself.

I presented the RIXISAC project at the weekly seminar and networked with researchers of the institute. The audience was at least 52 researchers of the institute, including profesors, postdocs, PhD students, and visitors reserchers. What an amazing experience to come back and be invited to give a talk in the seminar series that I once used to co-organize!

I also had an in person meeting with collaborators from the IMDEA Networks Institute regarding our ongoing collaboration on drift detection and its applications to communication networks. Involved researchers: Nadezda Chukhno, Antonio Bazco, and Marco Fiore from the IMDEA Networks Intistute; Sergi Alcala Marin from University Carlos III of Madrid; and myself.

It felt so nice to see my once colleagues in person again and enjoy amazing coffee breaks with them!

I had two very interesting meetings! First, we met with Dr. Andrés Garcia Saavedra, Principal Research Scientist at NEC Laboratories Europe, who is going to be my supervisor for my upcoming secondment in NEC Labs in the upcoming months. Second, we had an in person meeting with collaborators from NEC Labs and the IMDEA Networks Institute regarding our ongoing collaboration on automatic heuristic design and its applications to communication networks. I really enjoyed both meetings!

This week i participated to the first winterchool on Joint Communications and Sensing in Ponte di Legno (Italy)! I engaged in theoretical and hands-on sessions to deepen my technical expertise, and interact and network with field leaders and other participants in the event, and enjoy the many social activities that were amazingly organized by the organizing committee!

Today I completed the Fundamentals module of the University Teaching Qualifications (UTQ), at the TU Delft! It was a course of 15 hours, performed during Nov-Dec 2025. I successfully completed the Proof of Competence (PoC) and received my certification on 8/12/2025. 

In this course I explored Constructive Alignment the basic element of course design. In one session I focused on the formulation of Learning Objectives (LOs) and in the other I applied principles of Constructive Alignment in teaching and student supervision.

Today I presented my research up to now and my research plans within RIXISAC to the Networked Systems Group. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know my new colleagues and discuss with them!

Today I joined as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellow  the Networked Systems Group, in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science, in the Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands. 

I will be working on RIXISAC, my MSCA PF, adviced by George Iosifidis!
